You may not believe what you're about to read. Early indications are that this could be a significant breakthrough in nutritional medicine, cancer treatments and heavy metals detoxification. If early reports are to be believed, it far surpasses even the most miraculous cancer drugs from the world of conventional medicine, as you'll see below. It could also be nothing special at all, some critics say, and we'll explore that side of this story as well.
Read this article carefully, and remember that as the author of this article, I am in no way financially involved in this company or its products. My level of interest in this product is due solely to its apparent potential for ending suffering, not from any financial reward on my part -- because, again, I have absolutely no financial ties to this product or its manufacturer.
What is this product? Let me put this into perspective for you. Recently, the conventional medical community went positively nuts over the latest anti-cancer drug, Herceptin. This drug, which was clinically shown to reduce the rate of recurring breast cancer by 43%, has been deemed a "cure for cancer" by physicians and oncologists who live in the realm of pharmaceuticals. This is the most amazing drug they've ever seen -- 43% reduction -- and they're calling for it to be widely prescribed, even to those women who don't have breast cancer.
Here's a question for you: what if there were a non-prescription substance, made from natural ingredients, which had been correlated with cancer remissions in 78% of stage 4 cancer patients in a preliminary trial? (This was a small-scale prelim trial, so don't draw erroneous conclusions based on this single study...)
If you know anything about cancer, you're probably already thinking this can't be true. It's simply too good to be true. But actually, I'm not done explaining it yet...
What if this substance was virtually tasteless, odorless and easily consumed in water? That way, cancer patients (who have a very difficult time handling anything that tastes funny) could stomach it?
What if this substance also functioned as a potent detoxification supplement that binds with heavy metals, PCBs, pesticides and other cancer-causing chemicals and pulls them right out of the body?
What if it could bind with nitrosamines in the digestive tract, protecting people from the cancer-causing effects of processed meat preservatives?
What if this were backed by an approved U.S. patent, supported by convincing scientific research, and already on the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list for food ingredients?
And what if it were available right now, as a new breakthrough in nutritional medicine, that's shipping to customers as we speak?
Natural Cellular Defense
The news is that there is such a nutritional product. It's called Natural Cellular Defense (NCD), and it's based on research conducted by reputable (and pioneering) scientists from the world of -- believe it or not -- pharmaceutical medicine.
There's a lot of excitement (some say it's just hype) over NCD right now, especially online. Critics, however, point out that NCD is not safety approved by the FDA for any specific disease. Then again, neither is zinc, pomegranates or green tea, and we all know those are proven disease fighters. Besides, FDA safety approval doesn't mean much to anybody who knows how the FDA really operates, since the agency routinely approves deadly drugs like Vioxx that have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans already (and continue to do so each year). Recently, too, an FDA safety panel gave near-unanimous approval to a diabetes drug that doubled the risk of heart attacks and strokes -- another Vioxx disaster just waiting to happen. But that's a different article.
They relevant question here is this: is NCD safe? And is it really a breakthrough supplement that could save lives and help prevent cancer and other degenerative diseases?
Let's take a closer look at the function claims emerging from the research on this substance conducted by Rik Deitsch (background info on Rik provided later in this article). According to his research document, which you can download and read yourself (see "learn more," below), NCD exhibits the following actions:
1. Reduces cancer risk. Although only one small human trial has been conducted, the results were intriguing: 78% full remission for stage 4 cancer patients (with various types of cancer). The study was an open-label trial conducted by the researchers at LifeLink Pharmaceuticals in Ohio. Although one small study is not grounds for leaping to solid conclusions about cancer, this result is promising enough to warrant additional investigation. Any anti-cancer effect is probably due to NCD's ability to induce tumor suppressor genes that cause the body to not only halt the growth of tumor cells, but actually destroy such tumors. The technical explanation on this reads:
Finely ground natural zeolite powder has also been shown to induce activation of p21WAF1/CIP1. As a universal inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases and one of the target genes of the tumor suppresser p53, p21WAF1/CIP1 can act as a tumor suppresser through its ability to control cell cycle progression. Activation of p21WAF1/CIP1 may halt the growth of tumors by directly suppressing growth signals. However, tissue culture experiments demonstrated that activated zeolite particles inhibit protein kinase B/akt, another kinase involved in antiapoptotic processes and cancer promotion. This happens only when growth of cells in tissue cultures is stimulated by the addition of growth factors. Zeolite particles might adsorb growth factors or prevent interaction of protein kinase B with membranes, where it is phosphorylated by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. It has recently been shown that inactivation of protein kinase B by, for example, the novel tumor suppressor molecule PTEN also results in induction of the tumor suppressor-CDK inhibitor p27KIP1.
2. Acts as an antioxidant. Thus, it counters free radicals and helps the body defend itself against free radical / DNA damage.
3. Traps and nullifies nitrosamines in the digestive tract. This is of monumental importance. If you've read much on this site, you already know I've been sounding alarm bells about sodium nitrite and nitrosamines found in processed meats. (I've covered the issue in depth in my book Grocery Warning.) These nitrosamines are potent cancer-causing agents that appear responsible for the dramatic increase in cancer risk that follows the consumption of processed meat products (bacon, sausage, pepperoni, etc.) Pancreatic cancer rates shoot up 68%, and colon cancer rates are similarly heightened. Leukemia and brain cancers are also strongly correlated with processed meats consumption.
Additionally, we've also learned just recently that nitrosamines are a causative factor in type-II diabetes. Yet consumers are eating nitrosamines almost every day in their sandwich meats, pizzas, canned soups and other manufactured food products. NCD captures and isolates those nitrosamine compounds from the body, preventing them from reacting with the body's biochemistry. This single effect of this product could, in my estimation, potentially save the lives of millions of children and adults every year, all around the world. More detailed studies need to be conducted, of course, to determine the precise protective effect, but the initial information is very intriguing.
4. Chelates and removes heavy metals from the body. This is substantial. It is known to remove mercury, cadmium, and lead, all of which are strongly correlated with various neurological disorders such as autism, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, etc. The heavy metals research that I've seen, however, was conducted outside the body (not in human subjects), so there remains a lot of research that needs to be done in humans to further support this function claim.
5. Provides immunomodulatory action. This means it supports healthy immune system function which, of course, helps protect the body from a number of diseases and health threats.
6. Acts as a broad spectrum antiviral agent. After a few weeks of use, NCD reportedly begins to exhibit antiviral effects. This benefit is obviously very important for defense against infectious disease and even potential pandemic threats like the bird flu. It doesn't mean NCD treats bird flu or any particular disease, but it could potentially help reduce the viral load in conjunction with other, more direct treatments.
7. Balances pH levels. This is also hugely important for maintaining overall health. Most people exist in a state of excessive acidity, largely caused by poor dietary choices. NCD helps balance that state so that the body can function at its greatest biochemical efficiency.
8. Improves nutrient absorption. Malnutrition is common in the populations of the western world, even for those eating excessive quantities of food. One of the main reasons is, of course, malabsorption of nutrients, and it is these nutritional deficiencies that so often lead to the onset of chronic disease, especially in the elderly. NCD reportedly improves nutrient absorption, thereby reducing the risk of malnutrition, even without dietary changes.
How does Natural Cellular Defense really work?
How does it do all this? As Rik explains, it has to do with the unique crystalline structure of the zeolites which make up the active ingredient in NCD. Zeolites are found in nature, formed by the fusion of glass-rich volcanic rock with water (either fresh water or seawater). These zeolites have a rare property of being able to exchange positively-charged particles with surrounding elements without losing their structure. Zeolites are, essentially, negatively-charged minerals.
This allows a zeolite crystal to act as a "cage" that traps particles and compounds, isolating them from the biochemistry of the organism. Thus it functions as a sort of dance club bouncer that captures free radicals, carcinogens and even viral particles, and tosses them out. Because of this unique mechanism, NCD offers a unique line of defense that complements existing nutritional therapies without redundancy. In other words, if you're already taking green tea supplements as a breast cancer prevention strategy, then taking NCD will only complement your green tea strategy, because NCD works from an entirely different biochemical mechanism than green tea.
A good question about NCD (and I don't know the answer to this) is whether NCD would be contraindicated for the dietary supplementation of minerals such as calcium, magnesium or trace minerals. Rik partly answers this in his rebuttal (below), where he explains the selectivity of the zeolites.
Critics say zeolites cause harm
Critics of NCD, however, are saying this substance causes cancer. How can that be? They're referring to the fibrous structure of zeolite crystals and the problems encountered when a person inhales tiny crystalline structures. Inhaling asbestos, for example, is known to cause lung cancer. The tiny, knife-edge fibers in asbestos slice up the tissues of your lungs, then embed themselves and interfere with normal lung tissue function, ultimately leading to cancer (20 or 30 years down the road, sometimes).
My first response to the critics is simply that the zeolites in NCD are never inhaled. This is a product that's swallowed, not breathed in. So we're talking apples and oranges here. Of course volcanic rock will cause cancer if you grind it into fine dust and inhale it for hours on end. Almost any crystalline substance would do the same. But consuming it orally is an entirely different story.
We consume many other crystalline structures orally, including minerals and amino acids from our daily diet. Silica, for one, is a common nutritional supplement, and there's no indication that swallowing silica is harmful. Even spinach contains crystalline structures. And zeolites are on the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list maintained by the FDA. Not that the FDA has any credibility in my view, but it is a GRAS substance.
You can see this GRAS status mentioned at: http://www.gsaresources.com/PDSZK406H.htm. There, the page goes on to explain, "Natural zeolites are inert, non-toxic minerals which are federally classified as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) in most applications and exempted from regulations and reporting when used in accordance with good agricultural practice and when less than 2% in animal feed products (40 CFR, Part 180.1001)."
I would also question the critics of zeolites with an obvious question: if zeolites caused cancer, then how did 78% of the stage 4 cancer patients in the clinical trial find themselves in a state of full remission after taking NCD? Obviously, if the substance promoted cancer, those people should never have survived the study. Seven subjects didn't survive, actually, but they were late-stage cancer patients, and the trial lasted 14 months.
Keep in mind this was a small study, so it doesn't prove anything conclusively all by itself. I've seen some talk on the 'net that claims this substance has been proven to cure all cancers with a 100% cure rate and other similar nonsense. That's extremely irresponsible, given how little we actually know about the efficacy of this supplement in the context of different diseases or conditions. More research clearly needs to be conducted. It may someday be solidly proven that NCD prevents or treats cancers, but the supplement is nowhere near that status today. (It would cost probably half a billion dollars just to fund the studies to determine the answer to those questions, by the way.)
The Scientific Research Monograph by Rik Deitsch explains more about the safety of NCD:
The zeolite particles are negatively charged in the entire pH range (pH 1–11). Electron microscopy shows an absence of fibers, and most particles are round with a very rough surface. The absence of fibrous, positively charged particles is encouraging since such particles are present in asbestos and erionite zeolites, which are highly carcinogenic and mutagenic. In addition, activated zeolite particles do not catalyze the production of hydroxyl radicals, unlike asbestos or erionite. It seems that absence of fibrous particles capable of producing hydroxyl radicals makes this zeolite sample nontoxic and noncarcinogenic, at least when applied orally.
Rik Deitsch responds to critics
At the bottom of this article, I've reprinted Rik Deitsch's response to the primary critic of NCD. You can scroll all the way down to the bottom of this article to see the full response. It contains some solid scientific rebuttals to the critics, and also a good dose of emotional charge (almost as exciting as some of my own Big Pharma rants...)
The one contraindication on NCD that I'm fully aware of, however, is dehydration. If you take this product as a supplement and then fail to drink large amounts of water, you may end up causing harm through dehydration combined with circulating crystalline structures. Imagine sand flowing through a water hose, and then suddenly the water stops. What happens to the sand? It gets stuck in the hose. A crude metaphor, I know, but realizing that uric acid crystals circulating in the blood can cause havoc with joint pain, it seems wise to point out that full hydration is likely crucial for anyone choosing to take this product.
My main complaint about zeolites is that they have been tested on lab rats. As is standard procedure in pharmaceutical testing, lab rats are given cancer (through injection of carcinogenic substances, usually) and then watched for their response to the substance being tested. Because I'm a big animal rights supporter, and I have compassion for all living things, I'm not happy about this animal testing on the product, and I wish the manufacturer would announce an animal testing ban from here on out.
Rats are mammals, after all. They give live birth, just like we do. And although you might argue that sacrificing the lives of a few rats is worth finding a potential treatment for deadly diseases like cancer, I have an argument against that: most people with cancer chose a lifestyle that causes cancer, whether it's from cigarettes, eating junk food, avoiding exercise, and so on. The rats, in contrast, made no such choice. Cancer was forced upon them as an experiment -- sort of like making the rats pay for the sins of man. Thus, I believe it is morally wrong to give cancer to one group of mammals in order to discover a treatment for cancer in another group of mammals that's supposed to be of "higher intelligence" and yet isn't smart enough to stop its own self destruction.
An interesting moral question, for sure, and one that I'm likely to revisit in future follow-up articles.
Is it the next big thing in nutritional therapy?
Because of the remarkable properties of zeolites, combined with the standing patent, the reputation of the researchers behind this product, and the desperate need for alternative solutions from people suffering from cancer, this NCD product stands well positioned to be a big deal in nutritional products. Today, very few people have heard about it (it was only released to the public recently). But a year from now, it could be well known and highly regarded in the healing communities.
If the initial function claims hold up in further testing on humans, NCD could be nothing short of an unprecedented breakthrough in cancer prevention, anti-aging, heavy metals detoxification and many other areas pivotal to the health of the public at large. This single product could conceivably play a significant role in the reversal of the health decline of populations in the United States, Canada and developed nations around the world. This is especially true given the shocking fact that nearly every person in the United States has at least 125 toxic chemicals in their blood right now that don't belong there. Recent studies are even finding rocket fuel in 100% of breast milk samples taken from women across 18 states.
The potential success of this product depends on how this plays out, especially with FDA regulators who will no doubt be heavily scrutinizing this product. Why? My opinion is that the cancer treatment industry is one of the most politically powerful (and profitable) industries on the planet, and anything that competes with chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and mammography is bound to be attacked by the AMA, FDA and old school doctors. But that's just my opinion based on the way Dr. Burzynski (and other cancer research pioneers) have been attacked and discredited, going all the way back to Hoxsey. Besides, innovation is always the enemy of the status quo. And the slash & burn approach to cancer being practiced today is definitely the "status quo."
In any case, while I can't predict the future with certainty, I'd say this product is positioned to be one of the most sought-after and talked-about disease prevention breakthroughs any of us have seen in a while. Although I can't be involved with this company (due to my journalistic ethical guidelines), I am ordering product for personal experimentation, and I do expect to write a number of follow-up articles on NCD as this story unfolds.

And right now, Dr. Gabriel Cousens is building a unique network of natural health practitioners and health-conscious consumers who want to be part of this. Many other people are involved in promoting this product right now, of course, and those people are welcome to use this article and replace the phone numbers and URLs with their own.
Dr. Cousens is a raw foods pioneer, founder of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, and author of several highly-regarded books on nutrition including Conscious Eating and Depression Free For Life. Dr. Cousens is currently in his 60's, yet he exhibits the physical and mental capabilities of a healthy 30 year old. If anyone knows how to live in a healthful way, it's Dr. Cousens.
The revenues Dr. Cousens receives from his NCD distributorship will be dedicated to building out the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Arizona, which is a healing retreat featuring raw foods cuisine, meditation, yoga, nature walks and organic gardening instruction. I have covered the Tree of Life center as a journalist and will, in fact, be releasing a special report on the center very soon. (That's where I first met Dr. Cousens and was introduced to the raw foods lifestyle.)
Here's what you can do to get involved as a distributor with Dr. Cousens' organization, or to simply order the product as a customer:

Why a direct sales company?
Once this article goes public, I'm going to receive the inevitable emails asking, "Mike, why are you recommending a company using the direct sales marketing model?"
I'm not concerned with the marketing model of the company. That's irrelevant. I'm interested in the product. And if the company changed its marketing model to TV advertising and vitamin store displays, I'd still recommend the product as long as they didn't fudge the formula.
Besides, I'm consistently finding some of the best health products in the world are found through network marketing companies. The Amazon Herb Company, for example, is flat-out of the most high-integrity, honest and globally positive supplement companies I've ever seen. That's why I encourage everybody I know to get involved with the Amazon Herb Company, even if it's just as a customer. Their rainforest herbal products are second to none, and their pioneer (Amazon John) is an individual of great authenticity and credibility.
About the Waiora company
This Waiora company, by the way, is not one that I have been watching or covering for any length time. So I don't have the depth of knowledge about this company that I do the Amazon Herb Company, for example. But I do know that when I called them in doing my due diligence for this article, they answered their phones promptly and were very attentive.
I do know the company was founded in April, 2004, by top people who used to be in the Rexall direct sales organization. Those founders are Stan Cherelstein and Eddie Stone. As a direct sales organization, Waiora is undeniably young, yet its principals bring many years of experience with them. So hopefully the company won't buckle under the barrage of customer service demands that always seem to follow explosive growth in any new product like this.
The company is mum on its total number of active distributors, but they are gearing up for accelerating interest by proactively hiring new staff: customer service personnel, packers and shippers, etc. This NCD product, by the way, definitely seems to be the hottest item on the menu for Waiora. Their other health products may be well formulated, but they're not what's getting people excited.
The company currently has active business status in several countries: the United States, Canada, Taiwan and Japan. In contrast, Europe, Australia, South America and Africa are currently excluded from Waiora's business operations, although Waiora is constantly striving to expand its international operations.
Much of the research on NCD was conducted by Rik Deitsch. Rik is the CEO of the Nutra Pharma Corporation, a publicly-traded biotech firm. Rik is experienced in researching drug design using computer simulations, and currently teaches physician CME (Continuing Medical Education) courses internationally. He's also the author of the book, "Are You Age-Wise?" Rik and the founder of Waiora, I was told, have a long history of cooperation on various health projects and product formulations.
Dr. Gabriel Cousens talks about NCD
The following segment was authored by Dr. Cousens from the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center.
It is amazing that every year 10.9 million people across the globe are diagnosed with cancer and 6.7 million people die because of cancer. This is about 12% of all global deaths. The U.S. Ranks in the top three countries with the highest rate of cancer in both men and women. This is not an accident. 70,000 chemicals, according to the E.P.A., are used commercially. 65,000 of those 70,000 are potentially hazardous to our health. According to the Environmental Defense Group, more than 4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals are released into the environment each year, and 72 million of those pounds are known carcinogens.
These cancer-causing agents end up on our air, our water, and our food. In other words, we, like everybody else in the world, are surrounded by carcinogens, and we have to use what we as human beings have used all along for survival: a certain amount of cleverness and thoughtfulness in our lives, to counteract the lack of consciousness that the corporations and ourselves are living with. Different tests on the blood and urine of adult Americans have found a total of 167 compounds, with an average of 91 of these per person. Of these 167 compounds, 76 are known to cause cancer, and 94 are toxic to the nervous system. 82 affect the lungs, 86 affect hormones, and 79 cause birth defects.
In terms of children, unborn babies, for which Gabriel is working to develop a detoxification system for pre-pregnant mothers, the Red Cross has found a total of 287 chemicals in the baby's blood, 180 are known to cause cancer, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects in animals. Our future generations are explicitly at risk. Wouldn't it be nice to find a simple, natural remedy that can act as a practical antidote for this situation?
Some estimates show as much 25% of Americans suffer from some degree of heavy metal poisoning, the biggest ones being Mercury, Lead, Cadmium and Arsenic. We are exposed to radioactivity as well in a major way. The Chernobyl disaster is just one example of that situation. Immune systems are compromised by lifestyle and by toxic exposure. People are exposed to increasing viral attacks; free-radical buildup from radiation and other toxic chemicals has been seen as one of the causes or contributors to increased aging and cancer. People are living in an acid environment, of acid thoughts, of acid foods, and an acid lifestyle; people are becoming, obviously, more acid.
In my search for a simple approach to this, I have come across a natural compound called zeolite. Zeolite, in general, has been used for hundreds of years as a traditional remedy throughout Asia to promote overall health and well-being. Zeolite is an alchemical combining of the four elements, air, earth, water, and fire, as the lava earth and fire energy of volcanoes erupted, and the lava and ash poured into the sea. The combination of the ash and the salt from the sea, as well as the lava, caused a chemical reaction, and over thousands of years certain precious minerals like zeolites began to be formed.
A chemist in a small pharmaceutical company in Ohio, was intrigued by the power of zeolites. He researched it and purified it, and found some amazingly powerful effects from it. He was given a patent # 6,288,045 by the U.S. government for this.
I have read the scientific research, the patent papers, and the research monographed by Rik J. Deitsch, a nutritional and research biochemist, who is president of NDA Consulting, Inc., a biotechnology research group. He is also Chairman of the Waiora Scientific Advisory Board, and he is in charge of all the research concerning this natural healing substance. After talking with him and reading the literature, it is clear that they may have discovered what seems to be one of the most potent natural preventatives, and perhaps even treatments, for cancer.
In a recently completed preliminary 14 month study, with 65 level four, terminal-stage cancer patients, sent home to die, 51 of the patients, or 78%, experienced complete remissions, (which means complete disappearance of the cancer). It appears to be effective for all forms of cancer, leukemias, and lymphomas.
The mechanism of action is quite interesting for cancer. Theoretically what happens is the zeolites in Natural Cellular Defense, which is a certain structure that is negatively charged, takes in a tremendous amount of positively charged heavy metals, pesticides, and herbicides, therefore having the indirect effect of neutralizing their effect in causing cancer. Then, because of this, the zeolites become slightly positively charged and are attracted to the negatively charged membrane of the cancer cell and are pulled right into the cancer cells.
When the zeolite moves inside the cell, the P21 gene is activated. P21 acts as a tumor suppressor through its ability to control cell cycle progression. The activation of P21 appears to halt the growth of tumors by directly suppressing growth signals. In in-vitro studies, all cancer cells tested were destroyed in 72 hours, which is a claim no other substance has been able to make. The beauty of it, of course, is that there are no side effects because it specifically targets cancer cells.
My primary interest is in cancer prevention, and preparing mothers for a healthy pregnancy. We do not want to ignore the fact of a preliminary study that shows approximately 78% of the terminally diagnosed people with cancer are now in remission. We have to say that zeolite is still in preliminary research. We cannot claim that this is a cure for cancer, but we can certainly look at it as a potent cancer prevention remedy.
In terms of the heavy metals, which is a major, major problem, as well as pesticides and herbicides, furans and dioxins, etc., we can say that zeolite acts to chelate and remove heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, and other toxins from the system. It seems to do this in a hierarchical manner. It first acts strongly to remove lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. Once it has removed those from the system, which may take at least one month, it then chelates out, in the second level priority, the pesticides, herbicides, plastics, and so forth. The third priority is it acts as a natural trap of viruses to prevent the production of the viruses.
The way it chelates out the heavy metals as well as the pesticides and herbicides is that within the structure of the zeolite, there are certain cages, inside of which are positive ions. The positive ions switch places with the heavy metals, pesticides, or herbicides, which are also positive ions, and [the cage structure of zeolite] tightly binds them. One of the qualities of this [caged binding of toxins] is that they are 100% excreted; these pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals do not get deposited in other places in the system; they go out. 40% of it binds the heavy metals in the gastrointestinal tract, and 60% of it binds toxins in the bloodstream and at the cellular level. An additional part of its binding power was also proven at the Chernobyl disaster, where it removed radioactive cesium and strontium-90 from the system, acting primarily as a chelator, allowing those radioactive minerals to be trapped in the crystalline cage structure of the zeolite.
Zeolite also acts as a unique antioxidant in that it does not work like the traditional antioxidants, which act as a way to, in essence, take up the excess free radicals. What it does do, is it simply traps the radicals in its complex structure. It inactivates them and, again, eliminates them from the system. So, it acts complimentarily to the traditional antioxidants that absorb the free radicals into their system because they have an unpaired electron.
In addition, zeolite acts as what we would call a local buffer. Wherever it is, it buffers the system towards slightly alkaline, pH 7.35 to 7.45, which is a perfect buffer, for the optimum pH for the human body, that we want. Research has also shown that, in a way that is not entirely clear, it acts to regulate the immune system, either to up-regulate it or down-regulate it according to the situation. This is very important in a world in which most people's immune system is seriously and continually being compromised.
The final role that zeolite plays is as a broad-spectrum anti-viral. What it does in that case is that it blocks virus production. It does this because viruses produce everything in parts, in a production line, and at the end, they put it all together. What zeolite does it that it literally absorbs the viral parts into the "pores" parts seems to be effective for herpes virus 1, cosachie virus B-5, ecco-virus 7, and also adeno virus 5. Gabriel wants to be clear that its effect as an anti-viral is not immediate, but only seems to happen after you have been on it for about four to six weeks, and the heavy metals, pesticides, and herbicides have been mostly pulled out. It is the third level down in the hierarchy. This, again, is a preventative thing that builds up over time.
One unique thing about this zeolite is that it is considered by the FDA as "completely safe." It is listed on the GRAS list (generally recognized as safe). There does not seem to be any side effect. However, there is a contraindication to be aware of. Because of its natural action to absorb water, it can cause dehydration. Whenever you are taking this it, it is important to drink a lot of water. It is important to drink water before you start taking it to hydrate yourself for several days. It is also contraindicated in medications with heavy metals, such as lithium or with the use of medications with platinum in them.
The general treatment for everyone is 10 drops three times a day, with or without meals. For cancer, 15 drops 3-4 times per day is recommended. Zeolite remains active in the body for a period of six hours, and then needs to be replenished. What I believe we have here is a most unique, natural substance that is formed alchemically way by nature, as a gift from God to help us face our present day health challenges due to with ecological ignorance. In ayurveda, we call it crimes against nature: prajna prat hara. Not only are Gabriel and Shanti taking it, but I feel that it is an obvious thing that everyone who is living in the industrial world should be taking on a regular basis.
Once you have taken 10 drops three times per day for four to six weeks, then you can drop down to 3-5 drops three times a day on an ongoing basis, and upping it when there is a viral attack, chemical exposure, chemtrail exposure, and so forth. This is a gift from God to antidote our very difficult environmental conditions that keep us from being our fullest, healthiest, clearest, joyful, God-merged beings that we are meant to be. This product called Natural Cellular Defense is available at the Tree of Life or, like most unusual products that are useful, has now become distributed by network marketing and can be obtained at a significantly less expensive way if you sign up to be a distributor and distribute it to your family and friends. This is something that everyone on the planet needs to have.
This is different from supplements that generally add to your well-being, but are not necessary. Natural Cellular Defense is simple, elegant, extra-ordinary, and necessary for maintaining healthy living in today's modern toxic world. The Rik Deitsch response to critics
Here's a memo distributed by Rik Deitsch himself which responds to the safety concerns about NCD. Here, he's responding primarily to Jonathan Campbell. (I'm also open to printing Jonathan Campbell's rebuttal to all this if he wants to contact Truth Publishing with a response. I want readers to hear both sides on this.)
Dear Waiora Distributors,
I have just read Jonathan Campbell's website where he makes unfounded and malicious attacks on the use of natural zeolite as a dietary supplement. I would like to address his points and assure everyone that the Natural Cellular Defense is in fact a completely safe and non-toxic product that is based on a granted U.S. Patent and supported by dozens of clinical and epidemiological studies that have been published in the peer-reviewed medical literature.
As background, it's important to understand that there are more than 100 different zeolites. As an example, asbestos is a zeolite and causes cancer when inhaled as a fine powder. The zeolite used in the Natural Cellular Defense is naturally-occurring non-fibrous clinoptilolite and is considered to be extremely safe and entirely non-toxic (even when inhaled). A study published in 1993 concluded that "clinoptilolite type zeolite had no carcinogenic activity." (Tatrai E, Ungvary G. Study on carcinogenicity of clinoptilolite type zeolite in Wistar rats. Pol J Occup Med Environ Health. 1993;6(1):27-34.)
Additionally, Mr. Campbell suggests that there are no long-term animal or human toxicity studies. This is also incorrect. The zeolite in the Natural Cellular Defense has been used in water filtration, air purification, plant fertilizers and animal feed for more than thirty years in the United States. There are hundreds of published studies and articles that outline the uses and benefits of our form of zeolite in humans and animals. Not to mention that there is over 800 years of traditional use throughout India, China and Russia. It is quite obvious that Mr. Campbell could not even be bothered to do a Medline search prior to regurgitating his inaccuracies on the website. Had he done so, he would have found no fewer than 140 articles on such topics as: removing heavy metals, improving the health of animals, treating viral disorders, removing fungal toxins, remediation soil and treating cancer. This search can be accessed at the National Institutes of Health National Center for Biotechnology Information at the following link:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez (search for "clinoptilolite")
Mr. Campbell also cites a paper on carcinogenicity which incorrectly lists clinoptilolite as a fibrous zeolite similar to erionite. In a paper on the clinoptilolite's effects on animal tumors, the researchers found that:
"Electron microscopy showed the absence of fibers, and most particles were round with very rough surface. The absence of fibrous, positively charged particles was encouraging since such particles are present in asbestos and erionite zeolites, which are highly carcinogenic and mutagenic. In addition, activated zeolite particles did not catalyze the production of hydroxyl radicals, unlike asbestos or erionite. It seems that absence of fibrous particles capable of producing hydroxyl radicals makes this zeolite sample nontoxic and noncarcinogenic, at least when applied orally." (Pavelic K, et al Natural zeolite clinoptilolite: new adjuvant in anticancer therapy. J Mol Med. 2001;78(12):708-20.)
Mr. Campbell also states that there is no evidence of excretion. This too is incorrect and can be easily researched in the literature. In three separate studies specifically analyzing the ability of clinoptilolite to aid on the excretion of radioactive cesium particles, the zeolite was found to accelerate the excretion of Cs-137 from sheep's bodies. The whole effect resulted in 15 to 50 times lowering of the equilibrium concentration of the radiocaesium (Jandl J, Novosad J. [In vivo reduction of radiocesium with modified clinoptilolite in sheep] Vet Med (Praha). 1995 Aug;40(8):237-41.)
Additionally, we are currently evaluating the Natural Cellular Defense in its ability to aid in the urinary excretion of heavy metals. This research is being conducted by Eno Research & Development (ERDI) in North Carolina in cooperation with Duke University staff. The study aims to quantify the type and amount of heavy metals that are excreted from patients using the product. We have already seen some promising results and expect the study to be completed in the first quarter of 2006 and we will seek publication of the data.
Mr. Campbell's next point is that he claims the clinoptilolite zeolite to be indiscriminate in what it adsorbs. This too is incorrect. There are dozens of published studies that outline the reactivity series of the zeolite, showing preference for the heavier metals and larger compounds that carry a positive charge. Many smaller compounds will move into the zeolite, but will not be trapped. These undergo simple buffering and are released back into the body. The ability of the zeolite to undergo cationic exchange has shown that there is a reproducible, quantifiable reactivity series. Additionally, several animal studies have shown that adding clinoptilolite to animal feed actually increases overall nutritional health of the animal. One study found that "clinoptilolite supplementation of the diets had no significant effect on vitamins' and minerals' uptake and their distribution in the body, since there was no alteration in their blood serum and liver/kidney concentrations." (Papaioannou DS, et al. Effect of in-feed inclusion of a natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) on certain vitamin, macro and trace element concentrations in the blood, liver and kidney tissues of sows. Res Vet Sci. 2002 Feb;72(1):61-8.)
I would also like to point out that the patent on the Natural Cellular Defense and all of the related research was conducted by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. This had nothing to do with zeolite mining companies as Mr. Campbell suggests.
Lastly, you should always ask why someone would take the time to write a diatribe like the one seen on Mr. Campbell's website. He answers this question himself by supplying a link to his own answer to natural cancer therapy. If you follow this link, it will lead to his offer to sell you his books, products and services. He actually charges $60 for your initial order of supplements and $20 per month thereafter just for his consulting services. He clearly states that, "Note that this charge is for the ordering service only, and does not include the cost of the supplements, which range in price between $100 and $300 per month, depending on the illness."
Always question the source of inflammatory material. Do your due diligence and review published literature from uninterested, unbiased third parties.

Even though I can't get involved with this company, you can. It's distributed by Waiora, a direct sales company that offers a few other health products as well.
