June 24, 2011, a special non-working holiday in Manila

Two long weekends await Manilenyos starting June 18 (Saturday) since June 24 (Friday) has been declared a holiday in the city by the Palace. June 20 (Monday) was previously announced a national holiday as well- Jose Rizal's 150th birth anniversary will be commemorated on this day.

According to Proclamation No. 175, June 24, 2011 will be a special non-working holiday in the city of Manila since it's the 440th founding anniversary of the Philippine Capital.

PROCLAMATION NO. 175

DECLARING FRIDAY, 24 JUNE 2011 AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA

WHEREAS, Friday, 24 June 2011 marks the 440th Foundation Day anniversary of the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAQUITO N. OCHOA JR., Executive Secretary, by authority of His Excellency, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, do hereby declare Friday, 24 June 2011 as a special (non-working) day in the City of Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
