Miriam Defensor Santiago, the fiesty Philippine senator, and her husband former DILG undersecretary Narciso Santiago renewed their vows at the Manila Cathedral during their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
It would have to be one of the biggest gatherings of the year in the country since influential figures in politics and prominent names in business were there to witness the event.
Leading the powerhouse bridal entourage was no other than President Noynoy Aquino who acted as 'best man.' The 'maid-of-honor' was actress Heart Evangelista.
The entourage was also comprised of Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla Jr., Antonio Trillanes IV, Alan and Pia Cayetano, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Edgardo Angara, and Loren Legarda as well as prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and Tourism Ex-Secretary Gemma Cruz-Araneta.
Former presidents Joseph Estrada and Rep. Gloria Arroyo, former first lady Rep. Imela Marcos, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Chief Justice Renato Corona, Justice Consuelo Ynares-Santiago, and Lopez Group Chairman Emeritus Oscar Lopez were among the primary sponsors.
Among the secondary sponsors were Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas and wife, Korina; Sen. Manny Villar and wife, Cynthia; businessman Manny Pangilinan; and former Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral were among the secondary sponsors.
